Uber’s Customer Obsession AI team is on a mission to build magical, efficient customer support experiences using the power of Generative AI, NLP, and Computer Vision. As a Senior Engineer – Generative AI, you will lead end-to-end AI model development, from research and rapid prototyping to large-scale production deployment.

This role is perfect for candidates who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of LLM research, NLP innovation, and AI-driven customer experiences. You’ll not only shape technical direction but also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that Uber delivers world-class AI-powered support.

In this role, you’ll:

• Build AI-powered customer support assistants using prompt engineering, third-party LLMs, or custom fine-tuned LLMs.
• Partner with engineering, product, and data science teams to prototype, iterate, and launch GenAI solutions into production.
• Research and apply cutting-edge Generative AI techniques for large-scale real-world use cases.
• Lead strategic AI initiatives and deliver business impact through AI innovation.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Expertise in NLP, Generative AI, or related ML fields with proven end-to-end AI model deployment experience.
• Strong programming skills with clean, scalable coding in Java or Go.
• Ability to explore and integrate state-of-the-art ML algorithms into production.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of NLP theory and Generative AI advancements.
• Contributions to the AI/ML community (publications, tech talks, open-source projects, etc.).
• Experience collaborating across organizations, beyond just technical teams.
• Proven track record of driving impactful AI solutions in large-scale environments.
